Buffalos FC Teams participate in tournaments during the seasonal year. All tournaments can be classified into (2) two major categories: Invitational or Restricted / Selective. Invitational tournament means open registration for the tournament and the tournament director will approve or decline your application to play in the tournament. Most invitational tournaments only stop accepting team applications when they are full. A restricted / selective tournament is a tournament where a team qualifies to be eligible to participate in the tournament. Some invitational tournaments are very selective how they accept teams to participate. Your coaching staff or team manager can help answer any general questions about tournaments.
This occurs when a registered STYSA player plays in a tournament for a BFC team, and that player is not part of the BFC, they are registered with a different club or association. Players interested in Guest Playing for a Buffalos FC Team, please contact BFC Director of Coaching.
Tournament Teams may be formed during the seasonal year, when the tournament does not require teams use their State roster. Director of Coaching approves all tournament teams, players are selected by age and talent level to form a tournament team to participate in a particular event.
College Showcase or Showcase Tournament means that college coaches are invited to attend to watch and recruit players. This does not mean college coaches don’t attend other tournaments, but college showcase tournaments cater to college coaching staff, which means more of them attend these types of events.
This is a tournament that determines team's eligibility for a selective / restrictive event. Some qualifying tournaments can use to place teams in leagues and some qualifying tournaments are used to determine eligibility for a higher level tournament or special event.
These tournaments are played using a team’s official state roster. I.E. any tournament STYSA (South Texas Youth Soccer Association), WDDOA (Western District Division One Association) or AAYSA (Alamo Area Youth Soccer Association) puts on.
All tournament participation is confirmed by the team prior to any financial commitment. Teams need to commit to a tournament a minimum of one (1) month prior to the date of the tournament to ensure proper amount of time to register for the event, and if applicable, make any lodging arrangements for the team. Tournament schedules are determined by the tournament director and are not typically released until the week of the tournament. Tournament player fees are the responsibility of each player on the team, whether playing in the tournament or not. Tournaments that require travel, players will be required to pay a nominal per diem, lodging and mileage for all BFC training staff who attends the tournament for the club; sometimes more than one coach may be necessary. Some teams/players pre-pay a set amount before the season starts to cut back on the amount of out of pocket expenses during the seasonal year and some teams/players do not. All Tournament player fees will be disclosed, to best of our ability for each tournament, prior to team committing to the tournament.
Tournament Credits: Applied in the order of tournament play; players are required to register for tournament events to track the tournement credits they spend. If you think you are missing a tournament credit or have questions about your tournament credit balance - please email the DOC.
Refunds will automatically be applied to player(s) who register for a tournament when BFC is unable to get a team entered into the event. If a player contacts the DOC prior to the player registration deadline we can remove that player from the event, and refund any amount paid. After the Player Registration Deadline has past, tournament fees will be applied, unless there is an extenuating circumstance.
